Scrubbers: Shipowners urge clarity and legal certainty at the eleventh hour

BDI lazaris 930Reg TANKERS the new Newbuildings frenzy is called SUEZMAX. Very few NB orders in Drycargo sector. For Capesizes the only route exists is Aussie/Feast. All others are almost dead incl fronthaul cargoes and tc period activity. Panamaxes are the only ones climbing slowly up on rates.

ICS urges governments to see sense on the ballast convention

ICS logoThe International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) reiterated its call for governments to address the serious implementation issues concerning the IMO Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention before it is too late. Speaking at a Ballast Water Management Summit in Singapore, the ICS Vice Chairman, Esben Poulsson, encouraged IMO Member States to make use of the solutions proposed in an industry submission to the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), which next meets from 13-17 October.
