MARPOL Annex V Implementations – U.S./Canada

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has published an Interim Rule, which implements the revised IMO MARPOL Annex V garbage regulation, of which amendments entered into force on 1st January 2013. The Interim Rule revises U.S. Regulations (33 C.F.R. Part 151) to reflect U.S. requirements under Annex V.

Transport Canada and the French Centre of Documentation, Research, and Experimentation on Accidental Water Pollution (CEDRE) have jointly established the web site Understanding Chemical Pollution at Sea. The site is intended to familiarise non-specialists with issues such as chemicals, shipping, sources of pollution, prevention & preparedness, spill response, and impact.
